Canon EOS Digital Cameras
Canon EOS Digital Cameras are a series of models for the more experienced photographer that requires more than the simplicity of the point and shoot PowerShot series. The EOS models range from a moderate price range to the top of the line EOS 1Dx with a starting price tag of $6,700. Currently, there are 12 cameras in the EOS System
Differing from the PowerShot series, the EOS models are available with the camera body, and multiple lens packages. To help the consumer, there are bundles available that combine both the camera and lenses. For comparison purposes, this article will feature the Canon EOS Rebel T3 SLR camera body with an 18-55mm lens, an 75-300mm lens and a 2X Telephoto lens. The suggested retail on this bundle is $749 but a recent promotion from Amazon had this kit listed at $579.
To assist in making an informed consumer purchasing decision, I suggest going to Amazon and searching for Canon EOS cameras. This will bring up the entire EOS line with various conbinations of camera body, lens and telephoto lens.
The Rebel T3 is on the lower end of the EOS series but still offers a wide range of features. The 12.2 MP CMOS Image Sensor and Canon DIGIC 4 Image Processor for richly detailed images and quick camera response. It has amazing 63-zone, Dual-layer metering for accurate exposures and features HD video recording and Live View shooting, plus a convenient in-camera Feature Guide.
The EOS Rebel T3i has an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensor that captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range and offers more than enough resolution for big enlargements or crops. This first-class sensor features many of the same new technologies as used by professional Canon cameras to maximize each pixel's light-gathering efficiency. Its APS-C size sensor creates an effective 1.6x field of view (compared to 35mm format).
The Canon DIGIC 4 Image Processor dramatically speeds up the entire EOS Rebel T3i DSLR's camera operations for intuitive operation and offers improvements in both fine detail and natural color reproduction. It works in concert with the EOS Rebel T3i DSLR's CMOS Image Sensor to achieve phenomenal levels of performance in nearly any situation.
Improved Canon EOS Full Movie HD mode with manual exposure control and expanded recording capabilities has a moovie digital zoom and video snapshot features for enhanced movie shooting options.
